PORT GIBSON, MS: Funeral services for Vera Mae Hicks Liggins, 78, who died Tuesday, April 14, at her resident, will be held at 1p.m., Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Springhill M.B. Church with Rev. Larry Clark officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, from 1p.m. until 5p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Saturday, from noon until service time at the church.
Mrs. Liggins was a member of Rising Sun M.B. Church. She worked at Grand Gulf Nuclear Power Plant, The Old Depot Restaurant and Piggly Wiggly for many years.
She was preceded in death by a son, Tyrone Goldsberry; her parents, Richard Hicks, Sr. and Louise Keys Hicks; and siblings, Louise Bennett, Shirley Hicks, Betty Barnes, Richard Hicks, Jr. and Joe Hicks, Sr.
Mrs. Liggins is survived by five sons, Lonnie Buck, Ronnie Buck, James Goldsberry, Jerry Goldsberry and Charles Holmes; two daughters, Jacqueline Hicks Miller and Cassandra Holmes; two grandchildren that she raised, Shamira Holmes and Kendelrick Holmes; two brothers, John Hicks and Willie Hicks; twenty grandchildren; thirty-eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
