Tommy L Atlas

VICKSBURG, MS : Funeral services for Tommy Atlas, 68, who died Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at Merit Health Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS, will be held at 2p.m., Monday, December 30, 2024 at Beechland M.B. Church with Rev. Frank McGriggs officiating.  Burial will be in the Atlas Family Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson, in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 1p.m. until 5p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Monday, from 1p.m. until service time at the Church.

Mr. Atlas was a faithful member and usher at Beechland M.B. Church.  He had more than 40 years of Federal Service between the U.S. Army and the Postal Service where he worked in Vicksburg, MS.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Harriette Patterson; five uncles, Dalton Atlas, Jr., Charlie Atlas, Matthew Atlas, Douglas Atlas and David Atlas; and an aunt, Martha Atlas.

Mr. Atlas is survived by a sister, Cathy Thomas of Allen, TX; a niece, Kristin Thomas of Allen, TX; two nephews, Dalton Thomas of Allen, TX and Branden (Sylvia) Thomas of Houston, TX; two uncles, James Atlas of N. Chicago, IL and William Atlas of New Orleans, LA; a special friend, Caroline Luster of Vicksburg, MS and a host of other relatives and friends.
