PORT GIBSON, MS : Funeral services for Sylvester ‘Bill’ Byrd, 63, who died Saturday, September 23, 2022, at the Claiborne County Nursing Center, will be held at 2:30p.m., Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Mt. Burner M.B. Church in Port Gibson, MS with Rev. J.W. Hall officiating. Burial will be in Pattison Community Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Saturday, from 1p.m. until 5p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Sunday, from 1:30p.m. until service time at the Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donnie Ray White and Jimmie Lee Byrd-Williams; and five brothers, Albert Byrd, Derrick White, Bernard White, Eddie Lee Williams and Marvin Williams.
Mr. Byrd is survived by two sons, Antwan (Latoya) Sayles of Dallas, TX, Gerrick (Katina) Brown of Murfreesboro, TN; two daughters, Antoinette Sayles of Jackson, MS and Sirmyra Ellis of Dallas, TX; five brothers, Kora Byrd and Darrell (Charlene) White, all of Port Gibson, MS, Terry (Ayanna) Williams of Frisco, TX, Dwayne (Miranda)White of Chicago, IL and Michael (Branda )Reed of Vicksburg, MS; two sisters, Frances Randle (Lawerence) of Port Gibson, MS and Donna Clarke of Chicago, IL; a step-father, Charlie Williams, Jr. of Port Gibson, MS; thirteen grandchildren and a number of aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
