LAS VEGAS, NV: Funeral services for Steve Turner, 34, who died Wednesday, January 22, in Las Vegas, NV will be held at 11a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Hermanville, MS  with  Rev. Frank Curtis officiating. Burial will be in the Ward Family Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, from 1p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Saturday, from 10a.m. until service time at the church. 

 

From an early age, Steve dedicated his life to Christ. At just six years old, he was baptized at First Baptist MB Church of Hermanville, MS, setting a foundation of faith that guided him throughout his life. He remained steadfast in his spiritual journey and was a devoted member of Fountain of Hope AME Church, where he found strength, community, and purpose in his faith.

Steve proudly served his country as a United States Army Veteran, where he gained extensive training in leadership, adaptability, and working in high-paced, ever-changing environments. During his years of service, he held management roles in the Food and Beverage Department, demonstrating his strong work ethic and ability to lead teams effectively. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of discipline and commitment that he carried throughout his career and life.

A natural leader and visionary, Steve founded the Buck or Die Scholarship Inc., serving as its Founder and Chief Human Resources Officer, helping to support and uplift aspiring students. His professional journey included serving as Office and Human Resource Manager at Deep Springs College, as well as Human Resources Manager at the Art Institute of Las Vegas, where he spent five years making a meaningful impact. He also worked under contract with ChaseeL LLC in Henderson, Nevada, from April 2022 to February 2024. Beyond his corporate endeavors, Steve was an artist at heart. As a singer, dancer, actor, and assistant choreographer with Eau Inferno Entertainment, he poured his creativity into the world, performing passionately from February 2019 until June 2024.

Steve was deeply committed to the communities of Henderson and Las Vegas, where he played an active role in volunteerism and civic engagement. He was an important figure in local organizations such as Living in Henderson, Ladies of Henderson, and Las Vegas Women of Power, dedicating his time to uplifting and connecting others. Through his passion for service, he fostered a sense of unity and empowerment that will continue to resonate throughout the community.

Steve Dee Turner, Jr. will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his unwavering love for his family, his generosity, and his remarkable ability to inspire those around him. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the love he shared, and the passion he brought to every endeavor.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Steve Dee Turner, Sr.; his maternal grandmother, Bertha Lee Ward; his paternal grandparents, Ruth Turner and Robert Bridgemon, Sr.; two aunts, two uncles, and three cousins. Though he has left this world, his spirit remains in the hearts of those he loved.

 

Steve is survived by his devoted husband, Darnell Keith Tolliver of Las Vegas, Nevada, and his loving mother, Karen Brown (Marcus) of Brandon, Mississippi. He also leaves to cherish his memory his four sisters: Shontava Ward (Jermarcus Simmons) of Port Gibson, MS; Twan Hicks and Dellatte Hicks of Hermanville, MS; and LaShonda Neal of Phoenix, AZ. His two brothers, JoJuan Wilson of Brandon, MS, and Jarvis Neal of Phoenix, AZ, will continue to honor his legacy. Additionally, he is survived by seven aunts, four uncles, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, and special friends that include Ajin’a Hill-Heal of Dallas, TX and Charles and Leesa Gardner, both of Las Vegas, NV who will forever hold his memory dear,
