PORT GIBSON, MS: Funeral services for Sam Johnson, 72, who died Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at the Claiborne County Medical Center, will be held at 11a.m., Saturday, January 6, 2024 at First Christian Church in Hermanville, MS with Rev. Rickey O’Quinn officiating. Burial will be in the Hermanville Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, from 1p.m. until 5p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Saturday, from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Johnson and Ethel Lee Banks Johnson; a brother, George Johnson and two sisters, Lela Johnson and Sharon Coffey.
Mr. Johnson is survived by two sons, Sam (Aumetris) Johnson, Jr. of Waukegan, IL; and Tawhon Allen of Waukegan, IL; six daughters, Diane (Reuben) Brown of Round Lake, IL, Latoya (Darrell) Robinson of N. Chicago, IL, Samqueta Johnson of Beachpark, IL, Porche Allen of Round Lake, IL, Kenyachta Allen of Wadsworth, IL and Kenedra Brown of Gurnee, IL; three brothers, Willie Johnson and Floyd Johnson, both of Hermanville, MS, and Larry Johnson of Vicksburg, IL; six sisters, Mary Louise Reeves of Miami Lakes, FL, Lillie Cicero and Corine Jack, both of Oak Park, MI, Betty Barnes of Hermanville, MS, Learlean Rockingham of Port Gibson, MS and Annie Lemon of New Orleans, LA; two uncles, Jeffery Jenkins of Hermanville, MS and Preston Allison of Chicago, IL; a aunt, Ethel Mae Allen of Hermanville, MS; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
