PORT GIBSON, MS : Funeral services for Rodell Butler, Jr., 67, who died Wednesday, November 16, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg, Ms, will be held at 11a.m., Saturday, November 26, at Greater St. Mark M.B. Church with Rev. James Jones officiating. Burial will be in McCay Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson, in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 1p.m. until 5p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Saturday, from 10a.m. until service time at the church. Due to recent events affecting the nations, we ask that you take precautions; mask must be worn and will not be provided.
Mr. Butler was a member of Greater St. Mark M.B. Church. He was in the U.S. Army for 24 years until he retired and also worked at Firestone in Vicksburg, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodell Butler, Sr. and Helen Shaw Butler; two sisters, Helen Butler and Rose L. Butler and a step-sister, Rosie L. Franklin.
Mr. Butler is survived by his wife, Shirley Butler of Port Gibson, MS; a son, Calvin (Tracy)Butler of Port Gibson, MS; a daughter, Jennifer (Raymond) Butler-Bell of Vicksburg, MS; two sisters, Ruth Diane Foster of Tallahassee, FL and Carolyn Butler of Waterloo, Iowa; four step-sister, Catherine Ford of Lorman, MS, Laurette Smith and Brenda Harris, both of Fayette, MS and Elizabeth Smith of Vicksburg, MS; a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
