PORT GIBSON, MS: Funeral services for Robert “Rock” Rockingham, 68, who died Saturday, July 2, will be held at 2p.m., Saturday, July 9, at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Reed officiating; Rev. Frank Curtis will do the eulogy. Burial will be in the St. Phillips Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, from 1p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Saturday, from 1p.m. until service time at the church. Due to recent events affecting the nations, we ask that you take precautions; mask must be worn at the funeral home and the church and will not be provided.
Robert Rockingham was born March 12, 1954 to the late Robert Curtis Rockingham and Alice Walker Rockingham. He attended school in the Claiborne County School District and worked at Cooper Lightning for many years. He loved outdoor activities, “hunting and fishing” and could talk about the catch for weeks.
Mr. Rockingham is survived by a daughter, Shantoria D. Rockingham Jones of Port Gibson, MS; two sons, D’Elbert Boykins of Port Gibson, MS and Tony Johnson, Sr. of Hermanville, MS; a brother, Belth Rockingham of Port Gibson, MS; a sister, Helen Rockingham of Port Gibson, MS; four aunts, Bertha Davis and Ilena Davis, both of Jackson, MS, Ruby Mackey of Port Gibson, MS and Lorraine Torrain of Port Gibson, MS; 13 grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
