Preston James Brooks

Preston was born September 30, 1964 to Luda Bell Wren Brooks and Joseph Brooks, Sr. He was affectionately referred to as “Dook” in his childhood. He graduated from Port Gibson High School before moving to Kenner, LA and pursuing his passion in roofing and home remodeling. He devoted his time and energy to teaching others about the hope he was taught from the Bible. He married his wife, Lovie, on January 1st, 1994 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Shortly after, Preston and Lovie started their own family raising two daughters together. Everyone who knew Preston knew how much he loved cooking (specifically barbecuing and making the hottest chili known to man), fishing, and playing basketball. Preston will always be remembered for his witty sense of humor and effortless ability to bring life to a party. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who love him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Luda Bell Wren and Joseph Brooks, and three siblings: Linell Wren, Lonell Wren, and Joseph Brooks, Jr.
 

Preston is survived by his wife of 29 years, Lovie; his daughters Jada and Brittany; one grandson, Bryce; his sisters: Geraldine Varnado (Carl), Stacy Mackey, Jessie Green, and Cynthia Kershaw (Tyrone); and a host of other beloved family members.
