Perlie Davis Obituary

PORT GIBSON, MS: Funeral services for Perlie Lee Davis, born January 6, 1937, who peacefully transitioned into eternal life at University Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson, MS on Sunday evening January 08, 2023, with her family by her side, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 21st at True Faith Church of Christ, 3132 Highway 61 North, Port Gibson, MS. Pastor Elder Dennis E. Williams, Sr. will officiate with Pastor Elder Troy Lee Smith, Sr. doing the Eulogy. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson in charge of arrangements.  Visitation will be on Friday, January 20th from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.

Perlie attended Claiborne County Training School graduating from the 12th Grade in 1954. Perlie met the love of her life, husband Charles after he returned home from the Army serving in the Korean Conflict. The couple borne three daughters and one son. She proudly worked as an Operator at Allied Chemical/Plastic Plant for many years and later worked for the local Dollar Stores. Perlie was later blessed to become a homemaker, she enjoyed shopping, and counseling many family members and friends. Perlie received numerous community awards including Community Stepping Forward Appreciation Award and the 2021 Geneva Foundation Angel Award. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a Mother.

Perlie was preceded in death by her parents David Pierce and Beulah McDaniel, paternal and maternal grandparents, husband Charles H. Davis, Sr., sister Clementine Pierce, stepbrother Charles Ham, and stepson Walter Jackson.

Perlie leaves to cherish her wonderfully blessed memories her loving children, Beulah Davis of Sacramento, CA, Eulah Davis (Freddie), Dr. Charlene Davis-King (Clarence Sr.) all of Port Gibson, MS, Charles Herbert Davis, Jr. (Wynema) of Hattiesburg, MS, and special baby girl Angel Davis-Ubadi of Port Gibson, MS. Her stepsons Robert Earl Jackson (Lynn) of Milwaukee, WI and James Mack Keller of Port Gibson, MS. Grandchildren Caesare Toliver (Dr. Shanika), Omari Anderson (Laportia), Clarence King Jr., Keisha Honey Monroe, Jeremy Bailey, and Justin Bailey. A host of great grandchildren including two great granddaughters Samera and Skylar who lived with her, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. Three special Godchildren Pastor Troy Lee Smith, Sr., his wife 1st Lady Betty Smith, and Kolean Sanders. A host of special sisters Florene Davis, Willie Ruth Green, Cleo Dotson, Ruth Smith, Kate Branch, Canary Hester, Mattie L. Brinner and Velma Bailey Smith.
