Oscar Small Sr.

PORT GIBSON, MS:  Funeral service for Oscar Small, Sr., 98,   who died  Friday, July 28, 2023, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg, MS will be held at 10a.m.,  Saturday, August 10, 2023 at Mercy Seat M.B. Church with Rev. Frank McGriggs officiating.  Burial will be in McCay Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, from 1p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Saturday, from 9a.m. until service time at the church.

Mr. Small was a member and former choir member at Beechland M.B. Church.  He worked at Detroit Tank Arsenal for over 35 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Salomia Small; his parents, Frank and Thelma Small and a son, David Small and a grandson, Ricky Williams.

Mr. Small is survived by a son, Oscar Small, Jr. of Port Gibson, MS; a daughter, Evelyn Williams of Horn Lake, MS; ten grandchildren, Phillip Manley, Antione Small, Toya Harris, Shanice Small and Shayna Thomas, all of Detroit, MI, Mikal Bailey of Texas, Latasha Smith and Ciara Dotson, both of Port Gibson, MS, Deborah Williams of Horn Lake, MS, Brian Williams, Sr. of Maywood, IL; two sisters-in-law, Pearl Hall and Carrie Randle, both of Port Gibson, MS; and a number of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
