Lorman, MS: Funeral services for Mildred Lane Smith, 74, who died Thursday, August 4, 2022 at her residence, will be held at 1p.m., Saturday, August 13, at China Grove M.B. Church in Lorman, MS with Rev. Ronald McDonald, pastor at Watson Chapel A.M.E. Church officiating. Burial will be in McCay Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, from 1p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Saturday, from noon until service time at the church. Due to recent events affecting the nations, we ask that you take precautions; mask must be worn at the funeral home and the church and will not be provided.
‘Mrs. Smith was a member of Watson Chapel A.M.E. Church. She worked at Prolon for over 35 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Smith, Sr; her parents, Fred Lane, Sr. and Ella Mae Fields Lane; three brothers, James Fields, Fred Lane, Jr. and Willie B. Lane; two sisters, Gladys Brown and Lucille Blanton; and a grandson, Timothy Kaho.
Mrs. Smith is survived by two daughters, Essie M. Smith of Vicksburg, MS and Ella Mae Lloyd of Russum, MS; a step-son, Leon Smith, Jr. of Vicksburg, MS; two step-daughters, Lucille Griffin of Cannonsburg, Ms and Marilyn Barber of Milwaukee, WI; two sisters, LeFlora Lane of Vicksburg, MS and Lenora Trevillion of Port Gibson, MS; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
