PORT GIBSON, MS: Funeral services for Marcus Anthony Parker, 59, who died Friday, February 20, at Merit Health River Regional Medical Center in Vicksburg, Ms, will be held at 11a.m., Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Springhill M.B. Church with Rev. Barry Thompson officiating, and Brother Ellis Nasif will do the eulogy. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, from 1p.m. until 5p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Saturday, from 10a.m. until service time at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland Parker and Gloria S. Murphy; his bonus mother, Mama Hannah J. Parker; a sister, Claudette Parker and a brother, Bruce Anderson.
Mr. Parker is survived by his wife, Morgan Parker of Port Gibson, MS; four brothers, Michael (Catrin) Parker, Rodney Bryant and Eric Parker, all of Arkansas and Garland Parker, Jr. of California; five uncles, Arnel (Ethel) Sims, Lacey (Doris) Sims, Rowland (Brenda) Sims, Melvin (Helen) Sims and James (Nancy) Sims; six aunts, Olympia Johnson, Arcelia Rowster, Evan (Arthur) Ford, Algeria Sims, Erma Washington and Jessie Mae (Donnie) Farr; a father-in-law, S.D. Johnson, Jr; mother-in-law, Laura Johnson; sisters-in-law, Stephanie Johnson and Tracey (Eric) Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends including bonus family members that include, Ellis and Betty Nasif, Fred and Linda Sue Stewart and Hank and Suanne Drake.
