HERMANVILLE, MS: Funeral services for Madie B. Epps Tinsley, 90, who passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at her resident, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 23,2024, at First Baptist Church in Hermanville with Rev. Johnny Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Hermanville Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, from 1p.m. until 4:30p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and family hour will be at 6p.m. at First Baptist Church in Hermanville.
Mrs. Tinsley was a member, mother and Choir President at 1st Baptist Church in Hermanville. She was also the Worthy Matron in Silver Star Chapter #34 Order of Eastern Star, member and past Ancient Matron of Evergreen Court #8 Heroine of Jericho, Past District Matron of District 5B Order of Eastern Star, Past President of the Benevolent Union Society, and member of the Baptist Aid and Christian Aid. She worked as the Dietician Director at Claiborne County Medical Center for 19 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe Epps, Sr. and Clistia B. Wilkins-Epps; her husband,Tommy Tinsley, Sr; children, David Tinsley, Earl Tinsley, Jessie Hughes and Kameka Tinsley; siblings, Earner Epps Williams, Fannie Epps Thomas, Ethel Marie Short, John Epps, S.W. Epps, Hugh P. Epps, Frank Epps, and Monroe Epps, Jr.
Mrs. Tinsley is survived by four sons, Dr. Rev. Johnny Hughes and Eugene Hughes, both of Hermanville, MS, Tommy Tinsley, Jr. of Detroit, Michigan and Charlie Tinsley of Houston, TX; three daughters, Mary Bell Tinsley, Dr. Alicia Tinsley Goods and Tamaria Tinsley, all of Hermanville, MS; two brothers, Herbert L. Epps and Reuban Epps, both of Hermanville, MS; a sister, Ruth Callahan of Utica, MS; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends including caregivers, Lula Mae Ruffin, Claiborne County Medical Center, Deaconess Home Care, Compassus Hospice, and Nurse, Ms. Daphne Tinner.
