Lilly Ruth Atlas Scott

LORMAN, MS : Funeral services for Lilly Ruth Atlas Scott, 75,   who died Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at her residence,  will be held at 1:00p.m., Thursday , December 15, 2022,  at Beechland M.B. Church  with Rev. Frank McGriggs officiating.  Burial will be in Carbondale Cemetery in the Westside Community with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson, in charge of the arrangements.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 1:00p.m. until 5:00p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Thursday, December 15, 2022 from noon until service time at the Church. Due to recent events affecting the nations, we ask that you take precautions; mask must be worn and will not be provided.   

Mrs. Scott was a member, choir member, and secretary at Beechland M.B. Church.  She was an educator in the Claiborne County School District for over 30 years where she served as Secretary at Richardson Primary School, worked in payroll at the Central Office and taught Business, Marketing and Finance at Claiborne County VoTech Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, D.C. Atlas and Susie B. Williams Atlas; six brothers, Henry C. Atlas, Morris Atlas, Daniel Atlas, Alonzo Atlas, Rogers Coleman, Jr. and Martin Coleman, Sr.; a sister, Irene Eaddy; special nieces, Allean Coleman and Barbara Johnson.

Mrs. Scott is survived by a daughter, Angyela Scott of Lombard, IL; two sons, Kevin Scott, Sr. and James C. Scott, Jr., both of Lorman, MS; two sisters, Earnestine Alexander of Port Gibson, MS and Susan Martinez of Bronx, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Lois Atlas of Danbury, CT; special niece, Carolyn Coleman of Midwest City, OK; special nephew, Robert Coleman of Hattiesburg, MS; special great-niece, Aileen Brown-Evans of Port Gibson, MS; special friend, Fidelias Coleman of Lorman, MS; three grandchildren, Cameron Russell, Angelo Coleman and Kevin Scott, Jr. and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
