A Time to be Born
Laura Esther Ross Nichols was born February 28, 1952 in Harriston MS. She was the daughter of Merlin "Jimmie" Ross and Louis Murry and a devoted wife to Ben Edward Nichols, Sr. She accepted Christ at an early age. Laura, known by many as Butch, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, laughing with her grandkids, doing crochet crafts and working on home improvement projects. She spent many days sharing tik-toks with the family and enjoying puzzles, watching Sci-Fi movies and taking care of the family pets. She never met a stranger and shared her love and joy with everyone she encountered and most importantly she never failed to support the needs of her family through her love, care and guidance.
She was a graduate of the class of 1971, Liddell High School, Fayette, MS and for a short time, she attended Alcorn State University. Her career began with ITT Automotive as a receptionist and then as a Quality Control Manager, while later working in the medical field as a WIC Nutritionist and lab & x-ray tech at the Jefferson County Comprehensive Health Center. She also worked as a field representative for the US Census Bureau and before retiring she worked as a dental receptionist and insurance clerk with Campbell's Family Dentistry in Natchez, MS.
