Larry Londell Pickens Sr.

PORT GIBSON, MS: Funeral services for Elder Larry Pickens, Sr., 70,  who died Saturday, January 21,  at his resident, will be held at 11a.m., Friday, January 27, at Greater Mt. Zion COGIC Church, 2021 Monticello Street, Hazlehurst, MS  with Supt. J.R. Williams officiating.   Burial will be in Thompson Memorial Garden Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in charge of the arrangements.  Visitation will be Thursday, from 1p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Friday, from noon until service time at the church.

Elder Pickens was pastor at Bethlehem Church of God in Christ in Port Gibson, MS.  He retired from Bruce Hardwood in Port Gibson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam Pickens, Sr. and Johnnie B. Lacey; and a sister, Sherry Discus.

Mr. Pickens is survived by his wife, Sharon Pickens of Port Gibson, MS; three sons, Duarte Pickens and Larry PickensJr., both of Hattiesburg, MS and Stephen Pickens of Italy; a special niece, Keona S. Pickens of Jackson, MS; three brothers, Sam Pickens, Jr. of Port Gibson, MS, Anthony Pickens, Sr. and Gary Pickens, both of Springfield, MO; three sisters, Emma Hervey of Springfield, MO, Delaine Pickens and Denise Pickens, both of Chicago, IL; three grandchildren; and a number of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
