Juan Rozah Claiborne peacefully transitioned with her husband, son and his girlfriend Rylie, sister-in-love, Shirley and nephew, Kelsey by her side on April 11, 2025, at her home in Las Vegas, NV.
She was born on October 21, 1968 to the late Bobbie Jean Buck and Lee Dell Buck. A native of Port Gibson, Mississippi, Juan confessed her love for Christ at an early age and was baptized at Welcome Baptist M.B. Church under the leadership of Dr. C.P. Curtis where she was a member of the junior choir and usher board. Her faith and spiritual community were an essential part of who she was. She loved her home church and was a member there until her passing.
She attended Mrs. Guster’s daycare, Addison Jr. High School, and Port Gibson High School where she was a member of the (NHS) National Honor Society, (FBLA) Future Business Leaders of America and the Port Gibson High School marching band where she was the first female to play the trumpet. She was also crowned “Miss Homecoming” 1985-1986.
Her thirst for knowledge led her to Alcorn State University in 1986. She later went and received a practical nursing degree from Jumonville Memorial Technical Institute in 1993, an Associate of Applied science in Nursing in 1998 from Community College of Southern Nevada and was certified as a case manager on November 30, 2015. Juan was married to the love of her life, John Earl Claiborne for 35 years. (May, 1990-April, 2025). To this union their only child was born, JoJuan Claiborne. She had a profound love for her family, which was evident in everything that she did. She was not only a devoted wife and mother but also a cherished member of her extended family which included the Staff at the University Medical Center in Las Vegas where she worked for over 15 years and who took care of her when she became ill.
