HERMANVILLE, MS: Funeral services for John Curtis Bell, Sr., 70, who died Tuesday, March 2, 2026, at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS, will be held at 11a.m., Saturday, March 7, 2026, at A.W. Watson Elementary School Gymnasium with Rev. H.E. Banks officiating. Burial will be in Freedman Hall Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, from 1p.m. until 5p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Saturday, from 10a.m. until service time at the school.
Mr. Bell was a member and deacon at Freedman Hall Church. He was a self employed contractor/carpenter for over 4o years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Bell, Sr. and Annie Shaw.
Mr. Bell is survived by his wife, Emma Bell of Hermanville, MS; six brothers, Michael Grigsby, Sr. of Baton Rouge, LA, Xavier Liddell of Jackson, MS, Gregory Grigsby of Utica, MS, Jarrett Claiborne of Centerton, AR, John Bell, Jr. of Hermanville, MS and Kendrick Bell of Dallas, TX; two daughters, Jonise Bell Mays of Hermanville, MS and Jasmine Claiborne Ruffin of Centerton, AR; three brothers, John Bell of Houston, TX, Garrett Bell of Fayette, MS and Chuck Bell of Redlick, MS; two sisters, Annie Bell Walker of Harriston, MS and Mary Ann Jones of Detroit, MI; eight grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
