Joe Wilson Obituary

 

HAMPTON, GA: Funeral services for SFC (Ret) Joe Nathan Wilson, 56,  who died Sunday, September 18, 2022, in Atlanta, GA, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 24, 2022, at First Christian Church in Hermanville, with Rev. John F. Eggleston officiating. Burial will be in the Banks Family Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in charge of the arrangements.  Visitation will be Friday, from 1p.m. until 5p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Saturday, from 1p.m. until service time at the church. Due to recent events affecting the nations, we ask that you take precautions; mask must be worn and will not be provided.

 

Joe Nathan graduated from Port Gibson High School in 1984,  Alcorn State University in 1988 and then furthered his education at Saint Leo University where he graduated in 2012..  He served in the United States Army from 1984-2010 when he retired as a Human Resources Spec. He received many medal and awards which included 20 year service medal, meritorious service medal, Army commendation medal, Army achievement medal, and National Defense service medal to name a few.  He also served in Kuwait.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lee Wilson; a son, Jordan N. Wilson and a brother, Jerome Wilson.

 

Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Valette Lott Wilson of Hampton, GA; three sons,  Derrick Wilson of Jackson, MS, Jacquille Wilson of McDonough, Ga and Joe Wilson, Jr. of Hampton, GA; a grandson, Jeremiah Wilson of Mobile, Al; his father, David Atlas of Port Gibson, MS; five brothers, Percy Davis of Seattle, WA, Johnny Wilson of Bessemer, AL, Jerry Wilson of Swansea, S.C., John Wilson of Jackson, MS and Jeffery Wilson of Dallas, TX; a sister, Dr. Gloria Wilson Turnipseed of Colorado Springs, CO; a father-in-law and mother-in-law, Willie Sr. and Martha Lott of Port Gibson, MS; and a number of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
