PORT GIBSON, MS: Funeral services for Jessie Lee Ward, 65, who died Tusday, April 28, at her resident, will be held at 2p.m., Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Port Gibson Middle School gymnasium with Rev. Ray Earl Coleman officiating.  Burial will be in Philadelphia Cemetery in Pattison, MS with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson in charge of the arrangements.  Visitation will be Friday, from 1p.m. until 5p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Saturday, from 1p.m. until service time at the school.   

Mrs. Ward worked at Ameristar casino for 35 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernice Rogers Ward and Jessie Charles Ward;  a brother, Henry Ward; and two sisters, Ida Mae Rogers and Joanne Ward.

Mrs. Ward is survived by a son, Edward Polk, Jr. of Port Gibson, MS; three daughters, Sharon Ward of Vicksburg, MS, Verneecha Ward of Meridian, MS and Toni Clark Mack of Port Gibson, MS; two brothers, Jerry Ward of Vicksburg, MS and Timothy Ward of Chicago, IL; five sisters, Jacqueline Ward Savage, and Linda Ward Johnson, both of Vicksburg, MS, Beatrice Ward Shorts of Lorman, MS, Trenessa Swilley of Hazlehurst, MS and Jessica Brown of Natchez, MS; six aunts, Johnnie Mae Johnson of Natchez, MS, Emma Valentine of Katy, TX, Ora L. Gibbs of Jackson, MS, Lee Dell Smith of Oakland, CA, Shirley Adam of Vicksburg, MS and Carolyn Rogers of Port Gibson, MS; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
