PORT GIBSON, MS: Funeral services for Janet Aikerson, 69, who passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS, will be held at 11a.m., Saturday, February 3, at Greater St. Mark M.B. Church, with Rev. James Jones officiating and Rev. Elijah Wilson will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in the Wilson Memorial Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, from 1p.m. until 5p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Saturday, from 10a.m. until service time at the church.
Janet was a member and usher at Greater St. Mark Church. She worked at OK Cleaners and Sav-Rite Drug store for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter F. Aikerson and Harriette Wilson Aikerson; a brother, Barry Aikerson; three sisters, Agnes Aikerson Buck, Helen Aikerson Banks and Josephine Aikerson.
Ms. Aikerson is survived by two sons, Broderick Aikerson of Arlington, TX and Cedrick Aikerson of Port Gibson, MS; three daughters, Stacy Aikerson, Shakema Aikerson and E’Lissah Aikerson all of Port Gibson, MS; two brothers, Rev. Elijah Wilson of Cibolo, TX and Patrick Aikerson of Port Gibson, MS; three sisters, Vergia Aikerson Goldsberry and Ethel Jean Aikerson-McBride both of Port Gibson, MS and Clara Rose King of El Paso, TX; 11 grandchildren, Terri’yonne Aikerson, J’Marrionne Aikerson, Kolyon Barber, Herbert Barber, Jr., Steven Lyons, JaQuala Smith, Broderick Aikerson, Jr., DeDarrius Brown, JaMarcus Dorsey, Brodjhani Aikerson, and Logan Aikerson; a special sister/ friend, Verna Reed of Port Gibson, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
