James Henry Williams, also known by family as “Micey” and closest friends as “Cornbread”, was born September 29,1945, in McComb, MS. James accepted Christ at an early age and became God’s servant at the New Morning Star Baptist Church in Tallulah, LA. He received his education in Tallulah, LA, graduating from Reuben McCall Senior High. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served active duty from 1966 - 1968 and then went on to the reserve.
James worked at International Paper for 38 years before retiring. He worked for several years as an auxiliary sheriffs’ deputy in Warren County. He was a Mason, an Elk and a member of American Legion in Vicksburg, MS.
James is preceded in death by his mother, the late Lena McCraney. He leaves to celebrate his life: his loving wife, Janice Williams of Utica, MS; his daughter, Shandra (Lindell) Rushing of Port Gibson, MS, two sons; Derrick Williams of Murfreesboro, TN and Kevin Diggs of Decatur, GA, Three Stepdaughters: Latoya Weddington of Atlanta, GA, Shaquita Caffey of Jackson, MS, Anessia Martin of Vicksburg, MS and four Stepsons; Gregory McCallum and Johnny Caffey of Jackson, MS, Greg Steward of Houston, TX, and Maurice Gilliam of Vicksburg, MS. Eleven Grandchildren; Derrick Williams Jr., Damien Smith, Malik Williams, Ariah Williams, Rylee Williams, Tierra Blankenship, Arianna Sellers, William Holmes, Nycholas Holmes, Christopher Rushing, and Lindsey Rushing. Six Great-Grandchildren, and a host of cousins, in-laws and friends.
