Graveside services for Geraldine Shantell Howard, 57, who died Monday, September 19, at her resident, will be held at 2p.m., Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Thompson Memorial Garden with Rev. Ray Coleman officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 1p.m. until 5p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Saturday, the lineup will be at Thompson Funeral Home @ 1:30p.m. Due to recent events affecting the nations, we ask that you take precautions; mask must be worn and will not be provided.
Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Shorter and Jessie Mae Byrd Shorter; and eight brothers, Amos Byrd, Andrew Byrd, Otis Byrd, Ronnie Byrd, Stanley Byrd, Willie Byrd, Jr, Douglas Wilson and Devell Shorter; and a sister, Tammy Wilson.
She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Howard of Hermanville, MS; a son, Markea Byrd of Hermanville, MS; three brothers, Billy Ray Byrd and Leon Shorter, both of Port Gibson, MS and Deval Shorter of Virginia; eleven sisters, Florene Walker Hodge of Madison, MS, Julia Shorter and Audrey Shorter, both of New York, Reather Byrd, Brenda Banks, Briondria Shorter, Shelia Wilson, Tracey Wilson, Joychat Wilson, Keona Wilson, and Tameka Wilson, all of Port Gibson, MS; two aunts, Sadie McGrew of Hermanville, MS and Margie Spiller of Vicksburg, MS; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
