VICKSBURG, MS: Funeral services for Edith “Edie” Jackson Bailey Chiplin, 88, who died Friday, November 14, 2025 at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS will be held at 11a.m., Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Mt. Burner M.B. Church in Pattison, Ms with Rev. Dr. Ray Earl Coleman officiating. Burial will be in White Hall Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, from 1p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Saturday, from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Chiplin was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Jackson and Lizia Newton-Jackson; her husband, Thomas James Chiplin; two sons, Terry Jackson and Leo Jackson; four daughters, Shirley Brown, Daisy Johnson, Flora (Carl) Tarleton and Dora Mae Jackson; eight siblings, Irene Jackson, Sadie McGrew, Fannie B. Collins, Sammy Jackson, Leonard Jackson, Earnest Jackson, Clarence Jackson and Dora Jackson.
She is survived by her children, Mary (Andrew) Johnson of Hermanville, MS, Earnestine Reid, Ronald (Tangie) Bailey, Jerry (Burnette) Jackson, and Calvin (Lela) Bailey, all of Vicksburg, MS and Neltha (Darryl) Brandon of St. Louis, MO; three non-biological children, David Jackson, Keona Bailey and Shalonda Bailey, all of Vicksburg, MS; a son-in-law, Johnny Brown of Hermanville, MS; a daughter-in-law, Doris Jackson of Vicksburg, MS; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
