PORT GIBSON, MS: Funeral services for Dorothy L. Dotson, 84, who died Wednesday, July 17, at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson, MS, will be held at 11a.m., Saturday, July 27, at Greater St. Mark Church with Rev. James Jones officiating. Burial will be in Higdon Cemetery in Roxie, MS with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, from 1p.m. until 4:30p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with a Family Hour from 6p.m. until 7:30p.m. at the church and Saturday, from 10a.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Dotson was a member and choir member at Greater St. Mark Church and a member of Port Heroin Chapter #161 order of Eastern Star. She worked at Westinghouse for many years and as a driver at AJFC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy Thompson, Sr. and Vellia Jackson Moran; her husband, Joe Dotson, Sr.; and siblings, Leon Thompson, Elaine Thompson, Minnie Neal, Robert Howard, Jr. and Charles Howard.
Mrs. Dotson is survived by a son, Joe L. (Gloria) Dotson, Jr. of Hermanville, MS and a step-son, Eric (Trishta) Silas, Sr. of Simmesport, LA; three sisters, Pastor Patricia Fleming, Patricia Thomas, and Gloria Jean Orr; eight brothers, Guy Thompson, Vernon Thompson, Larry Thompson, Barry Thompson, Delano Howard, Charles Norrell, James Williams and Earnest Williams; four grandchildren, JaNetra Dotson, JoKevy Dotson, Jabari Kelly, and Brittany Truitt; godsisters, Mary Lee Woods and Shirley Woods; godbrother, Tom Woods; goddaughter, Charlotte Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
