Clifton Gray Obituary

FAYETTE, MS:  Funeral services for Clifton ‘Choppie’ Gray, Sr., 82, who died Monday, June 29, at his resident, will be held at 11a.m., Monday, July 6, 2026, at New Hope M.B. Church in Natchez, MS with Bishop Stanley Searcy officiating.  Burial will be in E. Mt Olive Cemetery in Redlick, MS with Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson in charge of the arrangements.  Visitation will be Sunday from 1p.m. until 5 p.m. at  Thompson Funeral Home and Monday, from 10a.m. until service time at the church.

Mr. Gray worked with the Road Dept. for Jefferson County for many years.  He also played in a band and was a Constable for Jefferson County.
 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Governor Gray, Sr. and Bessie Scott Gray.

Mr. Gray is survived by his wife, Gloria Walker Gray of Fayette, MS; two sons, Clifton (Deanka) Walker of Liberty, MS and Terrell (Arthurine) Walker of Fayette, MS; a daughter, Dr. Latrice Richardson of Gulfport, MS;  a brother, Tommy Ray Gray of Saginaw, MI; three sisters, Nancy Woodson of Cleveland, OH, Patricia Gray and Polly Gray, both of Vicksburg, MS; three sisters-in-law, Fay Knight of Kansas City, MO, Elizabeth ( Hosea) Morgan of Lansing, KS and Frances Parson of Vicksburg, MS; a brother-in-law, Larry Walker of Sikeston, MO; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
