PORT GIBSON, MS: Funeral services for Claudine “Judy” Leatherberry, 67, who died Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS, will be held at 2p.m., Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Ashland M.B. Church with Rev. Richard Cruel officiating. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson oversees the arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, from 1p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Saturday, from 1p.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Leatherberry worked at A.W. Watson Elementary school as a teacher for over 30 years. She was a member and mother at Ashland Baptist Church, a member of the retired Teachers Association and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter L. Thompson, Jr. and Annie Robinson Thompson; and a sister, Ruth Hazel McNeill.
Mrs. Leatherberry is survived by a son, Robert L. Gardner III of Port Gibson, MS and a daughter, Roshunda Leatherberry of Jackson, MS; five grandchildren, Malik Gardner, Amelia Gardner, NyKiah Gardner, Ahrianna Gardner and Zalahja Gardner, all of Port Gibson, MS; three brothers, Freddie Davis, Charles Trevillion and Owen(Yvonne) Thompson, all of Boston, MA; four sisters, Gustina (Greg) Jackson, Presandra (Melvin) Butler and Norma Lewis, all of Port Gibson, MS and Tonnie (Robert) Miller of Boston, MA; a aunt, Florene Davis of Madison, MS; a uncle, Jimmy Thompson of Minnesota; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
