Charles Steward was born on May 13, 1940 in Adams County, MS. He confessed his life to Christ at an early age in Jefferson County, MS. He attended school in Jefferson County at Laddle High School. He worked for the Claiborne County Fire Department (volunteering), Port Gibson Police Department, Claiborne County Head Start Center and the Public Transit. He loved fishing, talking to everyone, and making jokes.
Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Steward; an aunt, Essie Malone who raised him after his mother’s death; sisters, Helen Compton, Flora Reed, Marie “Tarvie” Washington, Loretta Thompson and Eloise Bailey; brothers, Joseph “Will T” Sanders, Zaid Abdual Hakeem and Albert Malone.
he is survived by his daughters, E’Lissah and Shakema Aikerson of Port Gibson, MS, and Sylvia Steward of Fayette, MS; his sons, Donald (Linda) Steward of California and Forrest Williams of Natchez, MS; eight grandchildren; a brother, Jerrel Malone; a sister, Bernice Felton; a special niece, Greta Myles; a close friend and fishing buddy, Charles “Buddy” Claiborne and several other nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
