Carrie Lee Edwards was born on December 30, 1944 to the late Mack Edwards and Dorothy B. Brown in Hazlehurst, MS. She had no siblings. She committed her life to Christ at an early age. She was a devoted member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Hermanville, Ms. She was a member of the choir, and loved to sing praises unto the Lord. She was employed at National Plastics in Port Gibson, MS for many years. After her retirement, she devoted her time helping other elders in the community. Her greatest leisure was spending quality time with her grandchildren.
Carrie transitioned from this earth to her Heavenly home on Monday, March 28, 2022, at Merit Health Central in Jackson, Ms.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her youngest son, Tommy Edwards.
Mrs. Edwards leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Dorothy Thomas(Lonnie) and Karla Edwards Shelby(Jeff); two sons, Rev. Rufus Thomas Edwards (Kornisha). Johnnie Ray Edwards(Thymeka); four grandchildren she raised as her own: Christopher Edwards(Kornisha), Omario Edwards, D’Arius Wilson and Da’Miracle Shelby; seven grandchildren: Carolyne Edwards, Johnnie Devonte Edwards, Corbin Edwards, Jaylon Edwards, Breamber Bradley and Brittany Bradley, Earnest Tully Sorrels; seven great grandchildren: two special cousins: Cassandra Dixon and Jimmy Brooks and a host of cousins and friends including the Banks, Buck, Dixon, Brown and Howard families.
