PORT GIBSON, MS: Funeral services for Bobby Ray Claiborne, 64, who died Monday, July 14, at his resident, will be held Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 11a.m. at Christian Chapel Church with Rev. Freddie Harris officiating with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, July 18, from 1p.m. – 5p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Saturday from 10a.m. until service time at the church.
Mr. Claiborne was a member of Christian Chapel Church. He worked offshore for over 30 years. When he retired he came back to Claiborne County where he worked for the Claiborne County Sheriff Dept. as a Deputy, and Cappaert Manufacturing housing, as well as owning Ray’s Small engine repair shop.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Earl Odom, Sr.; and a brother, Dannie Lee Claiborne.
Mr. Claiborne is survived by his wife, Tanoa King Claiborne of Port Gibson, MS; two daughters, Ariel Raychelle Claiborne and Audrey Renae Claiborne, both of Port Gibson, MS; five grandchildren, Carielle Dorsey, Chance Dorsey, Ledarian McIntosh, Kade McIntosh and Kingston Claiborne, all of Port Gibson, MS; his mother, Etta Claiborne of Port Gibson, MS; five brothers, Leon (Elaine) Claiborne and Leonard Claiborne, both of Port Gibson, MS, John Earl Claiborne of Las Vegas, NV, Willie Earl (Yardreika) Odom, Jr. of Houston, TX and Alexus (Deborah) Odom, Sr. of Dallas, TX; two sisters, Joann Claiborne of Port Gibson, MS and Jackie (Reggie) Johnson of Houston, TX; a aunt, Dora Mae Wolfe of Vicksburg, MS; a uncle, Wardell (Alice) Odoms of Jackson, MS; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends including a special sister-in-law, Beverly King Lindsey of Greenville, MS.
