Bell Purnell Obituary

AMARILLO, TX: Funeral services for Bell Janetten Purnell, 63,  who died Monday, October 21, 2024, at her resident, will be held at 2p.m., Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Christian Church in Port Gibson, MS with Pastor Keith Barnes officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery in Pattison, MS with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 1p.m. until 5 p.m. at Golden Gate Mortuary Service in Amarillo, TX,  Friday from 1p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Saturday, from 1p.m. until service time at the church. 

 

 Bell was born in Jackson, Mississippi April 20, 1961, to the late David and Mozella Stingley. She was baptized at an early age and attended, Greater Love Temple Church in Amarillo, Texas. Bell attended Port Gibson high school, and married her high school sweetheart Julius Purnell in 1981, They then moved to Texas. She later went on to attend Amarillo College in which she receive a degree in nursing in 1987. She did local and travel nursing  and healthcare throughout many states.  She worked taking care of others and her family until her health declined.  She would give you her last, and regret it wasn’t more. Her smile was contagious and could light up the room. She was a woman of faith, a devoted mother, and had many passions including gambling, playing cards, traveling, reading, cooking, and later on in life, her grandchildren.  

 

     Bell was proceeded in death by her parents David and Mozella Stingley, Uncle,  James Ray Waites Sr., a sister, Rose Stingley, and two baby brothers Don and Ronnie Stingley. 

 

     She leaves to cherish her memories Julius Purnell, Father of her two daughters, Sheneeka Annette Purnell and Keisha Rena Purnell ; grandchildren Moniquesa Flanagan, and Sa’Nieya Stovall; Two stepdaughters Tyrise Jackson, LenTanya Summage, and adopted granddaughter Kyrie Gross; Sister Pearl Stingley, Brother Willie Stingley as well as numerous extended family, classmates, relatives, and friends.
