LORMAN, MS : Funeral services for Albert L. Byrd, Sr., 61, who died Thursday, November 11, 2022, at the Claiborne County Medical Center, will be held at 2p.m., Sunday, November 20, at Magnolia M.B. Church in Port Gibson, MS with Rev. Hugh Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Pattison Community Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 1p.m. until 5p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Sunday, from 1p.m. until service time at the Church. Due to recent events affecting the nations, we ask that you take precautions; mask must be worn and will not be provided.
Mr. Byrd was a member and doorkeeper of Magnolia M.B. Church. He was employed as a law enforcement officers for over 30 years with the Claiborne County Police Department, Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department, Claiborne County Public School Security, Utica Sheriff Department, Alcorn State University Police Department as well as a Process server with Adam County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donnie Ray White and Jimmie Lee Byrd-Williams; a brothers, Derrick White, Bernard Wyatt, and Marvin Williams.
Mr. Byrd is survived by his wife, Katie Byrd of Lorman, MS; two sons, Aljimie Byrd (Pearliane) of Houston, TX and Albert L.Byrd, Jr. (ShaWanda) of Lewisville, TX; a daughter, Lavonda Byrd of Port Gibson, MS; six brothers, Sylvester Byrd, Kora Byrd and Darrell (Charlene) White, all of Port Gibson, MS, Terry (Ayanna) Williams of Frisco, TX, Dwayne (Miranda)White of Chicago, IL and Michael (Branda )Reed of Vicksburg, MS; two sisters, Frances Randle (Lawrence) of Port Gibson, MS and Donna Clarke of Chicago, IL; a step-father, Charlie Williams, Jr. of Port Gibson, MS and a number of aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends including a special granddaughter, Addisyn Byrd of Houston, TX and two special friends, Terry Watson, Sr. and Johnny Curtis.
